Eight-Week Workshop
Every Thursday for 2.5 hours beginning October 1
Dare To Lead™ workshops go virtual!
The world needs more courageous leaders…
I have some incredible news! During this pandemic, Dr Brené Brown has authorized her certified instructors to facilitate virtual Dare To Lead™ workshops! While there is no doubt that our in person workshops provided us with an opportunity to share in a face to face setting, I also received some feedback that the travel and time commitment to carve out 2-1/2 days was difficult for some; especially now with day care, in home schooling let alone the fears of COVID exposure.
Our new virtual program will consist of 2-1/2 hours a week over an 8-week period. Dr Brown has updated our content with the most current, empirically based leadership research. Building on her two decade long study of courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and a seven-year study on courageous leadership, Dr. Brown’s research reveals that the ideal leader is someone who cultivates a culture in which brave work, tough conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation.
As all of you know, the costs of in person learning versus virtual learning have been a hot topic across the country. Since I will not need to rent a facility or provide food, I am passing along those savings to my clients, contact me to get more details.
This is your opportunity to become a braver leader as you learn the four empirically proven skills sets of courageous leadership that are teachable, measurable, and observable:
- Rumbling with Vulnerability: Facing risk, uncertainty, and emotional exposure with courage and clarity.
- Living into our Values: Identifying, operationalizing, and practicing the beliefs that we hold most important.
- Braving Trust: Creating or deepening connections in relationships and teams based on the seven elements of trust.
- Learning to Rise: Learning and growing from the failures, setbacks, and disappointments that are inevitable when we are brave with our lives.
Are you ready to become a more courageous leader? Join Sandra Long for a virtual 8-week workshop beginning Thursday, October 1st. Click here for more details.

Succession Planning Keynote
December 16
IACC Annual Convention
Succession planning must be treated as an ongoing, essential process that needs to be baked into the fabric of the organization. Otherwise, the organization will be less likely to grow, attract top talent, and—for for-profit organizations—attain its highest-possible valuation. Also, leaders and managers will not have the leverage they need to focus on strategic issues rather than constantly fighting fires and immediate crises.
During this presentation participants will learn a comprehensive succession planning process.
- Foundation: Vision and Talent Needs. Lay out the vision for where the organization is going and what types of talent is needed. Identify what roles require succession plans, individuals that have the potential to be future leaders, and roles that might require external hires.
- Get the House in Order: Assess and create an action plan to get the house in order so that succession planning can become part of the fabric of the organization (e.g., human resource best practices). Including processes to recruit, retain, and develop top talent, and how to improve them.
- Maintenance: Performance review cycles, participants discuss specific employees with an eye to succession planning. Determine who has high potential, might be ready to move up, and how to get them to the next level. Examine key roles that might need a successor soon, and review/develop a plan to fill them. During these reviews, participants can also discuss flight risks and how to keep them engaged.
Dare to Lead™ Workshop
December 12
Caine & Weiner
Daring Leaders live into their values. When tough conversations arise or difficult decisions need to be made, these values serve as an anchor and keep them grounded. Have you ever explicitly defined your values and the behaviors that support them? In this workshop we will drill down to two anchor values and identify ways these values can help you build your courage muscle in work and life.
In this four-hour workshop, we will explore how values operate in our professional lives and the role they play in integrity and daring leadership.
You will:
- Identify your core values and the behaviors that support these values so you can learn to recognize when you are acting from a place of integrity (and when you are not).
- Learn the daring leadership skills that help guide tough conversations including giving and receiving feedback.
- Learn how authenticity is cultivated by Living BIG: establishing boundaries, practicing integrity, and extending generosity.
- Learn to recognize how shame, scarcity, and comparison show up in the workplace and how they affect engagement, trust, and connection.
The Dare to Lead™ program is designed for individuals and teams who are ready to embrace brave leadership, shed their armor, and show up with whole hearts in their work and life. Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program designed to help everyone in your organization learn the skills, practices and tools needed to support brave leadership and build more courageous cultures.
