Strategic Planning
One of my favorite sayings is “if you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there”. Strategic planning provides the structure and guardrails to achieve your goals. Our approach to strategic planning relies heavily on the experience, knowledge, and wisdom of the organization’s leadership and employees.
Together we will create a concise vision and strategic plan to include: background about your market, customers, products, competitors, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and edge; your vision going forward; the key strategic priorities to get there; and a plan to execute these priorities and make them happen, including required resources and timing.
We will take the strategic plan and turn it into a compelling vision and strategy that will speak to all levels of the organization. Our support through the process will be as a sounding board, devil’s advocate, and someone with a methodology to develop strategy so that you: efficiently develop your vision and strategy, get appropriate input from your team, and make sure that you present a plan that will help your company continue its success.
Succession Planning
What’s next for you? How much focused time have you spent thinking about what’s next for you, your company and your people?
Succession planning is complex and requires a serious commitment, but overlooking this process is much more costly than waiting until the last minute to try to replace someone who leaves a key position or find your successor. Significant thought and planning should occur well in advance. Our process involves taking the time to determine who is best suited to run the business for the next phase, creating assimilation plans to teach others the intricacies of the operation, and the values and mission of the company.
Our goal is to help our clients create a business that is less dependent on them, and that has a pipeline of leaders who can grow the business without them. That way, they can take long vacations, step back and reap the rewards of the business (e.g., cash), and have the business be more attractive to potential investors and buyers down the road.
New Leader Assimilation Program
This program prepares employees and their new leader(s) by establishing and enhancing a working relationship as quickly as possible. This is a rapid-learning system that teaches every participant high levels of effective performance and communication skills. The Program outlines a simple system that will give a new leader’s employees and the new leader a much quicker way to create effective internal working relationships. This program begins to pay dividends immediately, and leverages that initial solid launch with continued high performance communications from all involved.
Leadership Dashboard
When was the last time you focused on your development? Many leaders focus so much energy on the business and their teams, they seldom have time left for themselves. We have a proprietary assessment that helps leaders get clarity about what matters most for their success, and where to focus on spending time (i.e. initiatives, conversations, and relationships)that will have maximum impact.
During our work together, you will develop insights about your thinking and communication style, as well as your behavioral traits. These insights can help you understand how to work more effectively with:
- Members of your team
- Your leader and other senior leaders in order to improve their perceptions of you.
- Colleagues across the organization so that you can execute more easily
You will understand how others perceive you and identify areas where you can have more productive and effective impact on the colleagues most important to your success. You will gain clarity about your most important priorities so that you make the best use of your time and can spend more time preparing to take on a new role.
Employee Engagement
The lack of employee engagement is a billion dollar problem. It costs billions of dollars worldwide in lost productivity and employee turnover. We know that one of the main drivers of an employee’s engagement in an organization is their manager. If you can coach a manager to improve their ability to engage employees, you can make a big impact.
We have a practical approach to coach leaders to address key issues related to engaging employees. After completing our program participants will be equipped with the following skills:
- Understand and be able to implement best practices in engaging employees.
- Shift from a mindset of engaging “them” to developing strategies and tactics for individual employees.
- Become more situational in understanding specific employee needs and how to respond to them for optimal performance.
- Know when to direct vs. when to coach.
- Become aware of whether or not they have earned the right to lead, and how to take steps to be the leader they need to be.
- Improve ability to set the proper tone for high standards and expectations.
- Properly acknowledge employees when appropriate.
- Consider employees for long-term development.
There will be a pre and post assessment to measure the success of the program.
